Following a rigorous and highly competitive application process, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Mr Jon Tyler as the new Head of Lucton School.
Mr Tyler joins us from Dauntsey’s School, a thriving HMC independent day and boarding school for 850 pupils in Wiltshire, where he has been Deputy Head (Academic) for the past six years and played a pivotal role in a period of record growth and results for the school.
Holding a first-class degree in History from the University of Durham (where he was awarded the History Prize), Mr Tyler has also been a Head of History, Housemaster and Head of Gifted and Talented at previous HMC schools.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to a school with such a rich history and an exciting future ahead,” Mr Tyler commented. “We are very fortunate at Lucton to have fabulous surroundings, excellent facilities and wonderful staff. On my visits to the school, it has been the students who have really stood out above all else though, with their friendly nature and assorted talents. It’s very important to me that every student is able to enjoy their time here and achieve their full potential in every respect. I am determined that we deliver the best possible all-round education, both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Reflecting on Mr Tyler’s appointment, Chair of Governors, Dr Anthony Paterson, added:
“We were impressed by Jon’s vision for building further upon the excellent history that we have here at Lucton. His devotion to all areas of school life particularly stood out, having won a national prize from O2 Learn for his teaching work, as well as having run lots of clubs and sports teams alongside that. We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board. With a new Bursar and Head of Admissions as well, this is an exciting time for Lucton School and we are all looking forward very positively to a bright new chapter.”
