Jan, who joined Lucton shortly after WW2 having moved from Poland, went on to co-create and illustrate the hugely popular Meg & Mog series of children’s books in a career spanning over 140 titles. Renowned, in part, for his wonderful pop up books that captured the imagination of young minds (and their parents) from the 1960s onwards, Jan was particularly complimentary about his time in Herefordshire, which he described as his “gateway to British life”.
