Lucton School was delighted to host the third Orchestral Day on 16th May. Welcoming over 45 students from the local area, the students, and accompanying staff, were treated to a masterclass from five exceptionally talented musicians. James Topp conducted the day, leading the orchestra throughout the day in our glorious Memorial Hall. Noriko Tsuzaki, supported the strings on violin with Laura Galletta on viola. Catherine Handley lead the woodwind on flute, with Craig MacDonald on brass.
The aim of the orchestral day was to provide an opportunity for individual students from schools around the county to get together and enable them to perform together under the professional tutelage of the English Symphony Orchestra. For all participants, the realisation that, as an individual musician they are not alone, and combined forces can make a brilliant sound was what made this event particularly special.
Said Director of Music, James Wall, “It was wonderful to have our annual Ochestral day reinstated. Making music together is what it is all about!”
