Rugby is one of the oldest sports on offer at Lucton, and the school has enjoyed a proud association with the game for many years, in part through our connection to Luctonians Rugby Club; originally founded by old boys of the school more than 70 years ago.
In addition to sponsoring the junior section of the club, many of our students combine their love of school Rugby with playing club Rugby for Luctonians on the weekend.
The sport is a pivotal part of the sports programme at Lucton with many students being introduced to tag Rugby in the Prep School before progressing into full contact in Year 7.
Over the years, Lucton’s senior teams have won the prestigious Jonny Wilkinson Cup on two occasions. The U13 have also been ISA Midlands Sevens (7s) Champions multiple times and Lucton’s teams compete locally and regionally, in addition to national ISA competitions.
The sport is also popular with girls, and in recent times our team has been Area South winners and also competed at Rosslyn Park 7s, the biggest school-based competition in the world for 7s.
